The target molecule — a protein, a peptide, an amino acid, a sugar, an active ingredient — is usually present in a mixture that also contains everything you do not want, and the economics of the whole plant depend on how selectively and how cheaply you can pull it out.

Why it matters commercially

Dairy effluent carries protein, fat and lactose, which is exactly why it produces high BOD and COD and large volumes of sludge. The same components that make the effluent expensive to treat are the components worth recovering.

Where recovery is not viable for part of the stream, AnaeroMBR converts the residual organic load into biogas rather than spending power to destroy it. The two approaches work well together.

Choosing separation media on a datasheet is how separation projects fail. Our after-sales technical team offers experimental demonstrations, resin screening, process optimisation, troubleshooting, system installation and commissioning, and technical training for system operation.

Quality control behind the media includes Mastersizer particle size analysis, specific surface area (SBET) and pore size determination, FTIR spectrometry, COD metering, Agilent high performance liquid chromatography, resin strength testing, moisture analysis, acid-base titration detection, AKTA purifier protein purification and ICP elemental analysis.

Can you help us select the right resin before we invest?

Yes. Experimental demonstrations, resin screening, process optimisation and troubleshooting are part of our technical service, alongside installation, commissioning and operator training.

Is whey protein recovery worth doing at our scale?

The determining factors are volume and protein content. Recovery creates income from a high-demand product, lowers disposal cost, supports sustainability targets and improves product quality. We would model it against your actual whey stream rather than a generic case.

Do you supply the system or only the media?
