Every line below is a real operating problem raised by plants we talk to. Start from the symptom.
Rising abstraction charges, trade effluent bills that scale with volume, or a disposal contractor putting prices up. Recovery is normally cheaper than either. Start with minimum liquid discharge.
Colour, COD, metals, nitrogen or TDS above limit. Often correctable by adding a polishing stage rather than rebuilding. See water and wastewater treatment.
